Dr Braden Meiklejohn
Dr Braden Meiklejohn is an accomplished ophthalmic surgeon with expertise in cataract, pterygium and all forms of glaucoma surgery and laser. His practice encompasses surgical procedures involving minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) devices, such as iStent and Hydrus implants.
Dr Meiklejohn earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 2012 and subsequently completed his residency at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He completed his ophthalmology training in Queensland and served as the Senior Registrar at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2021. He also held the role of Senior Medical Officer in Ophthalmology at the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS) while supervising numerous Eye Surgeon trainees. He then completed a one-year specialist Fellowship in glaucoma surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.
Before embarking on his medical career, Dr Meiklejohn worked as an optometrist in his hometown of Toowoomba for three years. He earned his undergraduate degree with First Class Honours in 2005 at the Queensland University of Technology. Additionally, he holds a Graduate Diploma in Ophthalmic Science from the University of Sydney. Dr Meiklejohn is actively involved as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and has contributed articles to several international journals.
As an Eye Surgeon, Dr Meiklejohn is dedicated to providing his patients with the most up-to-date and personalised care for their eye conditions. Beyond his clinical commitments, he is an enthusiastic mentor to ophthalmology trainees and is committed to shaping the future generation of eye surgeons. When he’s relaxing he enjoys indulging in a sporadic game of squash, challenging himself at trivia events and seeking out the next winery to explore.
