Dermatochalasis

What is a blepharoplasty?

Dermatochalasis refers to excess skin of the eyelid.  It can cause an unacceptable cosmetic appearance and, in more advanced cases, can affect vision.

How is dermatochalasis treated?

Dermatochalasis is treated with an operation known as a blepharoplasty.  During a blepharoplasty, excess skin is removed which improves the cosmetic appearance and gives a more youthful appearance.  A blepharoplasty can also improve vision if there is significant dermatochalasis which is covering the line of sight.
