Dr Anthony Fong
Dr Anthony Fong is a comprehensive general Ophthalmologist with interests in Cataract surgery, Neuro-Ophthalmology, adult strabismus and glaucoma.Dr Fong started his career after graduating with a Bachelor of Optometry with Honours from the University of New South Wales and worked briefly as an optometrist in private practice in metropolitan Sydney.
It did not take long for his interest in Ophthalmology to evolve, leading him to relocate to Queensland to pursue a career in Medicine. He completed a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 2006 and obtained his Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in 2016. Dr Fong completed a fellowship in general ophthalmology which included Cataract, Glaucoma and Strabismus surgery.
Deciding to subspecialise in Neuro-Ophthalmology, Dr Fong traveled to Birmingham in 2019 on the Topham Scholarship to complete a year-long sub-speciality Fellowship in Neuro-ophthalmology. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham is one of the largest centers for Neuro-ophthalmic care in the United Kingdom.
Dr Fong has a keen interest and dedication to teaching and education and is passionate about the training of future Ophthalmologists. When he is not caring for eyes or teaching about eyes, Dr Fong enjoys spending time with his two young children and playing the piano and violin. He enjoys escaping from the bustle of the city for bushwalking and photography.
